Parish Connection – March 2, 2016

Lenten Program

The Lenten gatherings continue tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the parish hall. As a reminder, our Lenten theme this year is – “Lent is not a four letter word.” Invite your friends and family members to join us for the entire Lenten Series and encourage them, also to attend Stations of the Cross every Friday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Parish Meeting

The first in the series of parish meetings for 2016 will be held on Sunday immediately after the celebration of the Eucharist. Come share your views on what else we ought to be doing as a church as we seek to bring others to Christ.

Confirmation Classes

As indicated previously, Bishop Samuel Johnson Howard will be making a pastoral visit in July, he will confirm, reaffirm, and receive those who so desire to become part of our Episcopal Church Family. If you have children of confirmation age (10-12), please let the Rector know. Classes will begin this month also for those seeking to be reaffirmed or received.

Pray for Bishop Elect Davidson

In a matter of eight days, Charles A. Davidson will be ordained and consecrated as the new Bishop of Guyana. Please keep in prayer also the Rector and Genevieve as they make plans to be present at this historic occasion. Fr. Hugh has been invited to preach the sermon on March 9th.

Prayer Group Gathering

We wish to remind parishioners that our Prayer Group continues to meet every Monday evening in the DOK Chapel from 6:15 P.M. Come join those who gather every week, as they intercede for our Church, our Nation and the World.

RAP Sessions to at Saint Phillip’s

This tutoring session ministry has begun – RAP (Raising Academic Performance) and will continue every Monday from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Please bring children, grandchildren, or children of friends if you think they would benefit from additional academic support. ALL grade levels! Please also bring samples of your child’s work in a folder. Providing a few samples of your child’s classwork, homework, and
assessments would allow tutors to analyze the work, and thus provide appropriate learning steps. We look forward to seeing you at our RAP sessions Terrye Mosley.

The computer in the Finance Room is on its last legs, so the vestry has launched an appeal to have it replaced. Our target is $1,000 and we have collected just over $300 to date. Send in or bring your check with you Sunday.

A Big Thank You
